Space Jewellry
This project consists of two parts: an investigation into a company and a product proposal for them.
World View is a space tourism company, which offers commercial balloon flights 30km into the atmosphere. World View regards their flights as impactful and mind-altering experiences.
By producing an Overview Effect, the company claims to create a better future for our earth, not to explore the new worlds. Therefore, I have designed a product which would aid to prolong the memory of the journey.
The jewellry set serves as a memento, which encompasses the Overview Effect. It is composed of three parts: a silver piece, to represent the rigid climate of space; matter from a “World Wonder” (unique to every location), which represents the ancient earth; these two parts are connected by a delicate blue piece, which symbolizes the fragility of Earth’s atmosphere.
Apart from emotional value, the materials and design also provide a monetary value.
